CSRAGMRS has made a decision to add a new system to our network. It will be called the Private Mobile Radio Service, PMRS for short. We have been granted a license by the FCC for this new system, and it will operate on the UHF band very close to the GMRS frequencies. This new system will be active at all of our sites for members only. Our PMRS as well as our GMRS systems do require membership. This system will allow us to link the repeaters audio and then allow the audio to be repeated at all of the sites at the same time. This feature will allow our members greater range and communication capabilities. The best thing about this system as well is that NO LICENSE will be required to operate on the PMRS system. Yes, we will be still offering GMRS repeaters but will be at select sites only.
Stay tuned as we will update you more here on our website as this system is currently being implemented at this time and will take a few months or less to complete.
Our repeater network consists of repeaters located in Georgia and South Carolina and as a member you will have full access to all sites. We do charge yearly membership fees which we consider as a donation/contribution to help offset our cost for equipment purchases, maintenance and site location expenses. Your membership will allow full access to all sites. Please go to our Sign Up page to request membership.
GMRS also has a lot of benefits to offer its user as another source of communication as well. There are many GMRS systems throughout the US and yes, a license is required and very easy to get. No test is required, and your family is covered under one license.
